Ryan has over 15 years as a top-producing sales leader in the financial services industry and holds his Chartered Investment Manager designation. He excels in uncovering customer needs, providing solutions, and building long-lasting relationships. He is passionate about helping Canadians enjoy retirement security and works with top employers who see their people as their most valuable assets. His sales leadership has been integral in positioning Open Access as a leader in the group retirement and pension space. Ryan is also an avid hockey player who played for the Chicoutimi Sagueneens in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and Champlain College.

As a Chartered Professional Accountant, Jennifer brings over 25 years of professional accounting and audit experience to her role as CFO of Open Access. A leader by nature, she has played a critical role in increasing efficiencies across all areas at Open Access. Jennifer has many interests, including traveling, gardening and art.

Murray has an extensive investment background with more than 30 years of experience. He has worked as an Analyst, Portfolio Manager and Chief Investment Officer and greatly enjoys working with small to medium sized pension plans as well as high net worth investors. He believes that risk control and diversification are essential components to delivering successful investment results. Murray is a Professional Engineer and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). Murray is registered with the Ontario Securities Commission as an Advising Representative. In his spare time, Murray is an avid hockey fan and also enjoys cottage life and golf.

Julie brings over 25 years of client facing financial services experience to the Client Service group and plays an active role in the management team. She has developed a well-rounded affinity for her Customers; anticipating and solving their needs with a welcome blend of skill and humour (she made us capitalize “Customers” by the way).

J. Warren Laing

Chairman of the Board

Born and educated in Montreal, Warren graduated from Queen’s University in 1962, and in 1964 joined Hodgson Roberton Laing, which was the first independent investment counsellor in Canada with roots back to 1928. In 1967 he was appointed an advisor to a major Canadian Chartered Bank to manage the conversion of the Bank’s pension fund from 100% mortgages to a balanced portfolio of mortgages, bonds, and stocks. Warren was a founding member of the Investment Counsel Association of Quebec and the Association’s first President. In 1980, he became President of Hodgson Roberton Laing. In 1995, HRL merged with YMG to form Yield Management Group Inc. Warren was appointed Chairman of the Board. In 1997, seeing an opportunity in the Group Retirement Plan business, Warren withdrew from Yield Management Group to become President and Chief Executive Officer of Open Access Limited. Over a decade later, Open Access remains one of Canada’s leading independent Group Retirement companies, intent on helping all working Canadians retire well.

Jason Maguire

Deputy Chairman

Jason Maguire is a seasoned professional with over 25 years in financial, fintech, lending, data and learning industries. As a former Chief Executive Officer, he is an entrepreneurial spirit and is an expert in managing fast-paced, high-growth companies; he has a deep conviction in the importance of how the companies and products he represents change the way people live and how the world works. Prior to joining Open Access Ltd., Jason co-founded and was Chairman of Heritage Financial Group, the main founder of Yorkville Asset Management, he also led the acquisition of Boomerang Financial Group and oversaw a Canadian and International company that helped finance children’s future education. Jason has presented to industry peers, political and corporate leaders, and students through various events, conferences and educational forums. Jason is an enthusiastic supporter of entrepreneurs and companies that drive new products, innovation and growth. A member of various Angel investing groups, a former panel judge with ENACTUS that believes investing in students who take Entrepreneurial Action for others creates a better world for Us All. His mentoring of numerous start-ups and early-stage companies makes him a perfect voice for today’s business leaders.

Lindsay Broadhead

Board Member

Lindsay is currently the Chief Communications Officer for the City of Toronto. She has 20+ years of experience providing clients with corporate communications, campaign, and issues + crisis counsel and project support, in both Europe and Canada. Lindsay launched her own communications business, Broadhead Communications, and often provides business and political commentary on radio and TV. For over two years she has been honoured to serve on the Board of Directors for Casey House Hospital.

Ron Feddersen

Board Member

Over the course of his career, Ron has worked in the service business. He rose from Plant Manager to Vice President of Armor Elevator Corporation, where he later sold the company to the second largest elevator company in the world (Schindler Elevator of Ebikon), and was appointed President and a member of the Board of Directors. Most recently he was a partner in Atticus Management an interim management consulting firm. He continues to consult and sits on various company boards.

Thomas V. Armstrong

With a background in physics and math, Tom Armstrong has been actively trading in financial markets for over 10 years. As a proprietary trader in an ever-changing investment landscape, Tom has extensive knowledge of all traditional asset classes, including equities, bonds, futures, and options.
